THIRTEEN: “States shall develop national law regarding liability & compensation for the victims of pollution & other environmental damage.” FIFTEEN: In order to protect the environment, the precautionary approach shall be widely applied...where there are threats of serious or irreversible damage, lack of full scientific certainty shall not be used as a reason for postponing measures to prevent environmental degradation. TWENTY: “Women have a vital role in environmental management & development. Their full participation is therefore essential to achieve sustainable development.” |
TWENTY ONE: “The creativity, ideals & courage of the youth of the world should be mobilised to forge a global partnership in order to achieve sustainable development & ensure a better future for all.” TWENTY TWO: “Indigenous people & their communities, & other local communities have a vital role in environmental management & development because of their knowledge and traditional practices. States should recognise & duly support their identity, culture & interests & enable their effective participation in the achievement of sustainable development.” TWENTY SEVEN: “States & people shall co-operate, in good faith, & in a spirit of partnership in fulfilment of the principles embodied in this declaration. |
