| Learning to build & live sustainably becomes ever more pressing . Buildings consume 40% of the world's total energy & 16% of water consumption. Its is imperative, if we are to reduce emissions and mitigate even worse climate change outcomes than those currently predicted, that we learn to build buildings that absorb energy, are durable, and provide non-toxic environments for their inhabitants. |

Benefits of building with straw include: Straw is a great insulator, is breathable, filters air, and works as a heat exchanger.
Straw low cost, renewable resource (often a waste product) is quick to grow & is low energy to produce
As a building product it is durable, easy to build with & to maintain. Bales of strawcontain very little air & therefore do not burn easily |
